Use this chart to match a Sealcon PG strain relief cable gland to the cable diameter, dimensions, and installation environment. The range covers PG 7 through PG 48 cord grips in nylon, nickel-plated brass, stainless steel, and PVDF. How to Select a Sealcon PG Dome Cable Gland

Start with the measured outside diameter of the cable and choose a fitting whose listed cable range fully contains that dimension. Next, confirm the PG thread and through-hole diameter match the enclosure entry. Body and thread length matter when the wall is thicker or the mounting surface is recessed.

Choose nylon for general machine and control-panel wiring where low weight and corrosion resistance are priorities. Black nylon is UV-resistant for use outdoors. Nickel-plated brass provides a durable metallic body, while stainless steel is suited to demanding washdown or corrosive environments. PVDF is used where chemical resistance is important. EMI/RFI versions support shield continuity, and hazardous-location models should be selected only when their approvals match the area classification and installation requirements.

Standard & Reduced Range

Standard models cover common cable diameters. Reduced-range inserts provide a tighter seal around smaller cables without changing the cord grip dimensions or thread size.

Enlarged Body

An enlarged-body fitting accepts a wider cable while retaining the specified PG mounting thread, which can help when the existing enclosure opening cannot be increased.

Elongated Thread

Longer threads provide additional reach for thick enclosure walls, adapter plates or mounting surfaces where a standard thread may not fully engage the locknut.

EMI/RFI & Hazardous Location

Specialized metallic designs address cable-shield termination or classified-area installations. Verify grounding method, cable construction, and required approvals before ordering.
