Shield Contact and Liquid-Tight Cable Entry
This EMI/RFI cord grip uses an integrated O-ring to press the cable braid against the inside wall of the gland. It requires a braided shield, making shield construction an essential selection criterion. The nickel-plated brass housing combines the shield-contact function with mechanical cable retention at a single PG 9 entry.
Construction and Dimensions
The nickel-plated brass body measures .83" (21 mm) in length, with a .24" (6 mm) mounting thread. The through-hole diameter is .60" (15.2 mm), and the dome and body wrench flats each measure .67" (17 mm). A Buna-N seal supports liquid-tight cable entry.
Features and Benefits
- Nickel-plated brass housing with a Buna-N seal and nylon 6/6 splined bushing.
- Cable outside diameter range: 0.16–0.31 inches (4–8 mm).
- Integrated shield-contact design for braided-shield cables.
- Self-locking ACME dome thread supports even seal compression.
- Resistance to salt water, acids, alkalis, gasoline, and oils.
- Rugged construction for industrial cable-entry applications.
- Halogen- and phosphorus-free construction.
Applications
Recommended uses include telecommunications equipment, control panels, traffic systems, and measurement or feedback systems that use braided-shield cables. Select this EMI/RFI model where cable entry must combine shield contact, grounding, strain relief, and liquid-tight sealing.
Installation and Selection Notes
- Match the mounting connection to PG 9 and confirm the .60" (15.2 mm) through-hole dimension.
- Check available thread engagement against the .24" (6 mm) thread length and provide tool access for the .67" (17 mm) wrench flats.
- Use a cable outside diameter within 0.16–0.31 inches (4–8 mm).
- Seat the cable through the seal and tighten the dome to compress the seal evenly around the cable jacket.
- Use only braided-shield cable. The integrated O-ring presses the braid against the inside wall to establish shield contact.
- Locking nut sold separately.
- Standard and reduced inserts allow the cable opening to be changed. Match the selected insert to the required cable diameter.
Sealing and Environmental Protection
This cord grip carries IP68 and IP69K protection ratings and NEMA 4X and NEMA 6 ratings. Its pressure rating is 150 psig (10 bar), with submersion capability to 300 feet. Match the cable diameter, mounting arrangement, and sealing components to the installation so the complete cable-entry assembly maintains the required protection.
Cross-References
Compare thread, cable diameter range, dimensions, materials, and required ratings when evaluating a replacement. Cross-reference cable ranges can differ from the 4–8 mm range of this cord grip.
