8-port, 5-pin M12 IO-Link Master with Profinet and Ethernet/IP support, two D-coded M12 bus connections, two L-coded M12 power ports, 4 digital inputs, 8 configurable IO-Link channels, LED diagnostics, and IP65/IP67/IP69K protection.
Multiprotocol IO-Link Master for Networked Machine I/O
The Lumberg Automation 934964004 0980 ESL 199-121 Lion-P is an 8-port IO-Link Master designed to connect field-level IO-Link sensors, actuators, and digital inputs to industrial Ethernet networks. It supports Profinet and Ethernet/IP, so the same hardware platform can be used in control systems that require flexible protocol support without redesigning the field connection layout.
Eight 5-pin A-coded M12 I/O ports handle configurable IO-Link and digital input functions, while two 4-pin D-coded M12 bus connections support Fast Ethernet communication. Two 5-pin L-coded M12 power ports carry up to 2 x 16 A per module for robust module, sensor, and actuator supply. The nickel-plated die-cast zinc housing is potted and rated IP65, IP67, and IP69K for demanding production environments.
🌐 Multiprotocol Support
Supports Profinet and Ethernet/IP for flexible integration into common industrial Ethernet systems.
🔄 8 IO-Link Channels
Up to 8 configurable IO-Link master channels with Class A and Class B port support.
⚡ L-Coded Power
Two 5-pin M12 L-coded power ports transmit up to 2 x 16 A per module.
🛡️ IP69K Rated
Potted die-cast zinc housing withstands demanding washdown and industrial environments.
Key Features & Benefits

- D-coded M12 bus connections: Two 4-pin M12 LAN connections support Fast Ethernet at 10/100 Mbit/s, full duplex.
- L-coded M12 power ports: Two 5-pin power connections carry up to 16 A for module, sensor, and actuator supply.
- Configurable I/O capacity: Supports up to 8 IO-Link channels and up to 12 configurable digital input channels.
- IO-Link diagnostics: Transmits diagnostic data from IO-Link sensors and actuators to improve troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Fast update performance: Minimum 1 ms Profinet and Ethernet/IP update rates support responsive machine communication.
- Rugged field design: Potted nickel-plated die-cast zinc housing is rated IP65, IP67, and IP69K.
- Industrial protection circuits: Reverse polarity, overload, and short-circuit protection help protect connected field devices.
- Application fit: Useful in manufacturing, robotics, transportation, wind power, and water treatment systems.
⚠️ Network & Port Compatibility Notes
Confirm the required network protocol, controller configuration files, power wiring, and port class before commissioning. This unit uses D-coded M12 bus ports and L-coded M12 power ports; it is not a drop-in replacement for passive M12 distribution blocks or blocks with different coded connections.
🔎 IO-Link Master Channel Details
The master supports up to 8 configurable IO-Link channels. Ports 1–4 are IO-Link Class A, while ports 5–8 are IO-Link Class B. Supported COM modes are 4.8 kBaud (COM 1), 38.4 kBaud (COM 2), and 230.4 kBaud (COM 3). Parameter storage is supported, and the permitted conductor length to the device is ≤ 20 m.

📋 Commissioning Overview
1.
Mount the module: Install the potted field module close to sensors and actuators to shorten M12 cordset runs.
2. Connect network ports: Use compatible 4-pin D-coded M12 Ethernet cordsets for the Profinet or Ethernet/IP bus connections.
3. Connect power: Use 5-pin L-coded M12 power cables and verify 24V DC supply wiring for module, sensor, and actuator power.
4. Configure the controller: Load the correct Profinet or Ethernet/IP device data and assign addressing per the control system design.
5. Validate diagnostics: Check LED indicators, port status, IO-Link communication, and digital channel behavior before releasing the machine.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the equipment wiring diagram and applicable electrical safety requirements.
