Macromatic ARP120A8R Alternating Relay, Sequence On, Simultaneous Off w/ Selector Switch, 120V AC/DC, 5 Amps S.O.S.O.
Industrial plug-in duplex relay with three float-switch inputs, 120V AC/DC control, 5 Amps S.O.S.O. output, LED indication, and a 8-pin octal base.
Sequence Two Loads and Shut Them Down Together
The Macromatic ARP120A8R is a alternating relay, sequence-on, simultaneous-off with selector switch designed for two-load control systems that use three float-switch inputs. It combines alternating-relay logic, control-relay functions, and auxiliary contacts in one plug-in device. The sequence distributes lead duty between the connected loads while allowing both loads to de-energize together when the OFF input opens.
LOAD 1 starts when the LEAD input closes, and LOAD 2 starts when the LAG input closes. Auxiliary-contact logic maintains operation if a LEAD or LAG switch opens, while opening the OFF switch removes voltage from both loads and advances the relay to the opposite lead position for the next cycle. Two LEDs identify the lead load in the operating sequence. A low-profile selector switch can lock the relay into one load when manual run-time correction is required.
⚡ 120V AC/DC Control
Designed for control circuits operating at the specified nominal voltage.
🔌 5 Amps S.O.S.O. Output
Sequence on, Simultaneous off
💡 Dual LED Indication
Shows the lead load for faster troubleshooting.
🎚️ Selector Switch
Locks the sequence to one load when maintenance or manual run-time balancing requires it.
Key Features & Benefits
- Three Float-Switch Inputs: Supports S.O.S.O. operation with dedicated OFF, LEAD, and LAG control inputs
- Input-Failure Protection: Maintains the intended control response if the OFF or LEAD switch does not close
- Integrated Control Functions: Combines alternating-relay, control-relay, and auxiliary-contact functions in one unit
- Alternating Relay, Sequence On, Simultaneous Off w/ Selector Switch: Provides purpose-built two-load control in a compact plug-in relay
- 120V AC/DC Control: Matches industrial control circuits designed for this nominal voltage
- 5 Amps S.O.S.O. Output: Supplies the specified switching arrangement for the connected control load
- LED Load Indication: Gives technicians an immediate visual reference for the lead load
- Low-Profile Selector Switch: Allows one load to be held in the lead position when operating hours need correction
- Plug-In Installation: Fits the 70169-D 8-pin octal socket for serviceable panel mounting
- Long Mechanical Life: Mechanical: 10,000,000 Operations, Full Load: 100,000 Operations
- Industrial Approvals: C UR US, CE, C UL US (with Socket)
⚠️ Verify the Control Circuit and Contact Load
Before installation, confirm 120V AC/DC control power, the 5 Amps S.O.S.O. output arrangement, and the connected load's voltage, current, horsepower, and pilot-duty requirements. Do not exceed the published contact ratings shown in the technical specifications.
🔄 How the Alternating Sequence Works
This model is designed for sequence-on, simultaneous-off operation. The LEAD and LAG inputs stage the two loads, the OFF input removes voltage from both, and the next operating cycle begins with the opposite load in the lead position. This behavior supports automatic duty rotation while retaining staged-load control.

📋 Installation Overview
1. Confirm the control voltage and output-contact requirements.
2. Mount the relay in the 70169-D 8-pin octal socket.
3. Wire the initiating control inputs and both load-control circuits according to the Macromatic installation manual.
4. Test the complete operating sequence before placing the equipment into service.
✅ Typical Application Fit
Choose the ARP120A8R for a two-load control panel that requires three float-switch inputs, staged starting, simultaneous shutdown, and automatic lead-load rotation. Confirm that the connected control loads remain within the relay's 5 Amps S.O.S.O. rating.
