The metal body is paired with a Buna-N form seal, a Nylon 6/6 splined bushing, and a Buna-N O-ring. Its construction is halogen-free, phosphorus-free, UL 94 flame protected, and resistant to salt water and many common industrial chemicals and oils.

For IP65 performance, each cable should be at least 80% of the 3 mm hole diameter, and the cable-to-hole difference must not exceed 0.04 in. (1 mm). IP68 is possible only with an ideal cable-to-seal fit and may require testing in the finished installation. The locking nut is sold separately.
