How to Select an NPT Flex Cable Gland

Start with the outside diameter of the cable, then choose a gland whose listed cable range securely covers that measurement. Match the NPT thread to the enclosure opening and verify the through-hole, body length, and thread length against the available installation space. Use nylon for a lightweight, corrosion-resistant option (black nylon for outdoor), nickel-plated brass for greater mechanical durability, or an EMI / RFI proof model where shield continuity and electrical noise control are required.

Why Use a Flex-Top Strain Relief?

The extended flexible top supports the cable beyond the enclosure wall so repeated movement is distributed over a longer bend area. This helps reduce sharp bending, jacket wear, and conductor fatigue near motors, sensors, and machine-mounted control devices.

Common Applications

Sealcon NPT flex cable glands are commonly installed where cables enter control panels, junction boxes, motors, and machine enclosures but still need room to move or flex. The strain relief body secures the cable at the opening, while the flexible extension helps protect the jacket and internal conductors from concentrated bending stress during equipment operation or maintenance.
