The Macromatic VMP240AX is a voltage monitor relay. This 8 Pin plug-in relay has a nominal voltage of 240V AC. It checks for over or under voltage errors and has an output of 5A DPDT. The VMP240AX operates with a fixed pick-up & drop-out time delay, adjustable pick-up voltage, and a fixed drop-out voltage. The LED indicator on the VMP240A is red to show when the relay is energized or green when it is not. Pilot duty rating. It uses an 8 Pin 70169-D octal socket and features true RMS voltage measurement for more precise sensing. Note: 10A version pictured

When the voltage stays above the preset pick-up voltage (180-300V AC) for a longer period than the pick-up time delay, then the unit is energized. If the voltage goes below the drop-out voltage (135-285V AC) for a longer duration than the drop-out time delay, then it de-energizes. The drop-out time delay is fixed at 0.5 seconds. Whether the VMP240AX monitors for undervoltage or overvoltage situations depends on the type of output contacts being used.

Overvoltage
Overvoltage protection utilizes a normally closed contact. The voltage has to stay below the max setting for the load to be energized while the relay itself remains de-energized. If the voltage goes above this level, the load de-energizes and the relay energizes until voltage goes back down.

Undervoltage
Undervoltage monitoring requires a normally open contact. The load stays on and the relay is energized so long as the voltage stays above the minimum setting. Voltage going below the minimum de-energizes both the load and the relay.
