The GardTec SC162-W10 162mm wire form fan guard is designed for 162mm cooling fans. The smooth rounded edges maintain quiet fan operation while preserving maximum (CFM) airflow efficiency. When heat dissipation, noise and airflow are critical design elements, the SC162-W10 design allows for 23-30% greater airflow, heat removal and substantially less objectionable noise than even the optimum sheetmetal guard. The GardTec SC162-W10 is a 2 position, 162 mm, 10 ring nickel plated chrome fan guard.

  • Fan Guard Material: C1008 Steel
  • Plating: Bright Nickel Chrome
  • Ring Diameter: 1.6mm
  • Rib Diameter: 2mm
  • Positions: 2
  • Fan Guard Size: 162 mm
  • Rings: 10

Additional Product Information

When using a cooling fan to keep electronics temperatures down, fan guards are an important fan accessory to have. The cooling fan guard works to keep larger pieces of debris from getting inside the fan and promotes safety by keeping fingers from accidentally coming in contact with the fan. Wire form fan guards are more practical than sheet metal guards, because the rounded rings keep the noise level down and allow the most air to flow through. Fan accessories such as wire form fan guards also prevent excess heat from collecting inside. Too much heat can cause internal damage to the machine. The GardTec SC162W10 is highly efficient, up to 95%, so any impedance is kept to a minimum.

Make sure the dimensions of the cooling fan are known before choosing a fan guard, as the sizes do need to match. A longer life expectancy and less energy usage are among the other benefits to using a wire form fan guard. Other features related to a fan's effectiveness are surrounding air pressure, the collection of dirt and airflow, which are all influenced by the right fan guard. When installing a new fan, always use the proper fan guard with it. Before implementing a cooling fan system, make sure the unit in turned off completely and unplugged.
