Description

Seifert KH 501-050 50 W PTC Control Cabinet Heater, 110–240 V AC/DC

This compact DIN-rail convective heater combines a self-regulating PTC element, 50 W heating output at 68°F, wide-range AC/DC input, and a 2-screw terminal connection.

50 W Output in the Same Narrow KH 501 Footprint

The Seifert KH 501-050 is a 50 W convective control cabinet heater designed to limit condensation and maintain a minimum internal temperature. Its self-regulating PTC resistor changes heating output in response to the surrounding temperature, and the 110–240 V AC/DC input range supports either AC or DC power within the listed rating.

This 50 W version uses the same 4.92-inch height and 1.61-inch square footprint as the 25 W model, providing additional heating without requiring a wider DIN-rail space. It is a practical step up when the enclosure heat-loss calculation calls for more output but panel room remains restricted.

🔥 50 W Heating Output

This model supplies 50 W at 68°F for calculated control-cabinet heating applications.

⚡ Wide AC/DC Input

The 110–240 V AC/DC input supports common cabinet power systems.

🌡️ Self-Regulating PTC

The heating output responds to the surrounding temperature without using a fixed-resistance element.

📏 Compact DIN-rail Body

The heater body measures 4.92" H × 1.61" W × 1.61" D.

⚠️ Size the Heater from Enclosure Heat Loss

The 50 W rating is measured at 68°F. Actual PTC output changes with temperature, so heater selection should account for enclosure dimensions, insulation, the minimum outside temperature, the required inside temperature, and heat generated by installed equipment. Confirm that the available 110–240 V AC/DC supply and branch protection can support the maximum current of 3.5 A.

The heater is intended for installation inside a suitable control cabinet. A cabinet installed outdoors still needs the enclosure rating, seals, drainage, and environmental protection required by the location.

📋 How the Self-Regulating PTC Heater Works

When the surrounding air is cooler, the PTC element can draw more power and deliver more heat. As the local temperature rises, its electrical resistance increases and the heating output decreases. This behavior supports efficient condensation control, but it does not eliminate the need to calculate the required wattage or provide any external control and protection specified by the cabinet design.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Self-Regulating Element: PTC resistor varies heating output with the surrounding temperature
  • Condensation Control: Circulates warm air inside the cabinet to reduce moisture accumulation
  • DIN-rail Installation: Mounting clip supports fast placement inside the control cabinet
  • Electrical Connection: 2-screw terminal block for stranded or rigid 14 AWG wire
  • Maximum Current: 3.5 A
  • Operating Range: -49°F to +158°F (-45°C to 70°C)
  • Approvals: CE, cURus
  • Typical Fit: Compact cabinets that need more output than the 25 W model without a larger footprint

📋 Basic Installation Overview

1. Calculate Required Wattage: Determine cabinet heat loss and the temperature difference the heater must maintain before selecting 50 W.

2. Choose the Location: Reserve enough room for the 4.92" H × 1.61" W × 1.61" D heater and the clearances required for natural convection.

3. Mount on DIN Rail: Secure the supplied clip to the cabinet's DIN rail so the heater cannot move or contact adjacent wiring.

4. Connect Power: De-energize the cabinet, then connect the 110–240 V AC/DC supply to the 2-screw terminal block for stranded or rigid 14 awg wire.

5. Test the Cabinet: Restore power, verify heating operation, and confirm that the enclosure maintains the required temperature without condensation.

Installation and wiring should be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with applicable electrical codes and the cabinet design.

📞 Selection & Ordering Notes

Order Code: 501050

Model Verification: Confirm Seifert KH 501-050, 50 W output, 110–240 V AC/DC input, 3.5 A maximum current, and 4.92" H × 1.61" W × 1.61" D dimensions before ordering.

Application Check: Review the complete cabinet thermal calculation and electrical design before replacing a heater with a different wattage.
