Mencom Locking CordsetsNEMA 5-15 to Locking C13 cordsets from Mencom are now available through Major Electronix. These cordsets come in 3 foot or 6 foot lengths with a 5-15 plug and a C13 connector. The locking mechanism inside the C13 connector latches on to a C14 inlet and allows the cord to stay in place once it has been plugged in. To unlock, simply pull back on the red tabs on the C13 connector. They are compatible with any type of universal C14 inlet. The C13 connector is known as a IEC 60320, or simply an IEC plug. Both cordsets have 18 AWG wire with a voltage rating of 125V and a rated current of 10A. The cable is covered in PVC and they feature a North American color code. NEMA 5-15 refers to the fact that the C14 plug has 3 prongs, which includes a grounding pin.

These NEMA 5-15 to C13 cordsets are ideal for industrial and medical applications, since the locking system allows the cordset to stay in place while under continuous use or high rates of vibration. They are also useful in data centers, reducing the risk of losing data due to a cord being accidentally unplugged. They can work in other types of high traffic spaces as well, ensuring that the plug will stay in place. C13/C14 plugs and sockets are among the most commonly used for computers, monitors and other similar equipment.
