Pick the Right Power, Data & USB Cnlinko Connector

🔌 Cnlinko Connectors Explained: Pick the Right Waterproof Power, Data & USB Connector

Each Cnlinko series compared, including IP ratings, amp ratings, and which one actually fits your panel cutout.

⚠️ Before You Order: Sizes Are NOT Interchangeable

A "20mm" LP-20 plug will not mate with a "20mm" DH-20 or YM-20 socket. They may have the same nominal size, but with a different thread pitch and locking style. Match the full series code (LP-20, DH-20, YM-20, etc.), not just the millimeter size.

📊 Series Comparison At a Glance

Series Housing Rating Waterproof Best For
LP-20 / LP-24 Plastic + zinc alloy hardware Up to 20A / 500V IP67 Audio, lighting, LED screens, stage rigs
DH-20 / DH-24 Full metal, zinc alloy (hard chrome) Up to 25A / 500V IP67 (IP68/IPX9K on select 2‑pin) Outdoor power, harsh/vibration environments
YM-20 High-strength PBT plastic Up to 20A / 500V IP65/IP67 Solar, EV, servers, smart grid
YT-RJ45 Plastic or metal 10Gb/s (Cat5e) IP67 Outdoor Ethernet runs, PTZ cameras
YU-USB PBT plastic 1.5–1.8A / 5V, up to 5Gbps (USB 3.0) IP65/IP67 Kiosks, control panels, field data transfer

1️⃣ LP-20 & LP-24: The Everyday Plastic Series

Self-locking, button-release connectors for power and signal in lighter-duty industrial and AV setups.

LP-20 (20mm)

  • 2–12 pins, male & female
  • Black male / Yellow female housings
  • Push-button self-locking release
  • Power or signal, depending on pin count

LP-24 (24mm)

  • 3-pin power, plus RJ45 / USB / fiber optic
  • 🔴 Red = power 🟡 Yellow = RJ45 🔵 Blue = USB 🟢 Green = fiber optic
  • Color-coded symbol on every housing, no guessing which plug goes where

2️⃣ DH-20 & DH-24: Full-Metal Heavy-Duty Power

Where LP is plastic-bodied, DH is all metal (zinc alloy with hard-chrome plating) built for repeated outdoor mating cycles and vibration-heavy installs.

-40° to 80°C

Operating temperature range

  • DH-20: spiral bayonet, three-point twist lock (≥500N separation force), 2–12 pin configurations, IP67 standard, select 2-pin versions rated IP68/IPX9K.
  • DH-24: larger bayonet-lock body, 3-pin power configurations, contact resistance under 1mΩ, insulation resistance over 500MΩ, IP65/IP67, solder or crimp termination. A fiber-optic variant is also available for signal runs on the same DH-24 shell.

3️⃣ YM-20: Multi-Core Plastic Power Series

YM-20 splits the difference between LP and DH: a high-performance PBT plastic shell (lighter and lower-cost than DH) with the same 20mm mounting footprint and threaded/bayonet secure connection.

  • 2–12 pin configurations, male and female, cable and panel-mount versions
  • 20A / 500V on 2–4 pin versions; current rating steps down on higher pin counts (5–12 pin runs 400–500V)
  • Contact resistance <1mΩ, insulation resistance >500MΩ, gold-plated copper alloy contacts
  • IP65/IP67 rated, >500 mating cycles, -40°C to 80°C operating range
  • Common in: solar/PV systems, smart grid equipment, EV charging accessories, servers, marine and stage equipment

4️⃣ YT-RJ45: Waterproof Ethernet

Circular and rectangular RJ45 connectors for outdoor Ethernet runs: cameras, access points, and networked equipment that lives outside the building envelope.

  • Cat5e compatible, 10Gb/s data transfer
  • Plastic or metal housing options
  • 1/4-turn bayonet or snap-fastener locking
  • IP67 rated when mated

5️⃣ YU-USB: Waterproof USB 2.0 & 3.0

Circular, panel-mountable USB connectors for control panels, kiosks, and field equipment that need a serviceable, sealed USB port instead of a bare cable running through a gland.

USB 2.0

  • 480Mbps transfer rate
  • 1.5A @ 5V
  • IP67 mated, -25°C to 85°C
  • >500 mating cycles

USB 3.0

  • Up to 5Gbps transfer rate
  • ~1.5–1.8A @ 5V
  • IP65/IP67 depending on model
  • Type-A male/female, panel-mount or cable versions

⚡ Compatibility Note

YU-USB uses a 2-point or 3-point snap-fit lock depending on the model. A 2-point plug will not seat correctly in a 3-point socket. Check the part number suffix before ordering a replacement.

✅ Quick Reference: Ordering Checklist

  1. Confirm the full series code (e.g., "DH-20," not just "20mm")
  2. Count your pins: pin count changes the current/voltage rating within a series
  3. Match male/female and cable-mount vs. panel-mount
  4. Check IP rating against the install environment (indoor vs. outdoor/washdown)
  5. For USB: confirm 2-point vs. 3-point snap-fit and USB 2.0 vs. 3.0
  6. For RJ45/fiber: confirm Cat rating and bayonet vs. snap-fastener housing

🚨 Troubleshooting: Common Field Issues

💧 Water ingress despite IP67 rating

Almost always an under-tightened bayonet/thread or a missing/damaged O-ring. The IP rating only holds when the connector is fully mated and locked. Re-seat and confirm the lock clicks or twists fully home.

🔌 Won't mate / feels cross-threaded

Check the series code again. LP, DH, and YM at the "same" 20mm size are not interchangeable. Also confirm pin configuration on both halves. Newer generations may not connect with older ones.

⚙️ Intermittent power/signal

Inspect contacts for corrosion or bent pins first. Most series rate contact resistance under 1–3mΩ when new, so a rise in resistance shows up as flicker or dropout before a full failure.

🐢 USB running slower than expected

Verify you're not mixing a USB 2.0 YU-USB plug (480Mbps ceiling) with equipment expecting USB 3.0 (5Gbps) speeds. They can look identical but perform differently.
