The Macromatic 70166 is a hold down spring made for use with the plug-in style relays when mounting the octal socket to a panel or a 35 mm DIN Rail.

For panel mounting: One screw goes in one end of the spring and the mounting hole on the socket before it is attached to the panel. The same thing is done for the other end of the spring. The relay is attached to the socket and then the spring is stretched over it.

For DIN rail mounting: Two 8-32 3/4" screws with washers & nuts (not included) are needed when mounting to a 35mm DIN rail. One screw goes in one end of the spring and the mounting hole on the socket. Add the washer and nut to the other side of the socket and tighten it. The same thing is done for the other end of the spring. The relay is attached to the socket and then the spring is stretched over it.
