HSTB1/4 shrink tubing is used mainly to act as insulation and keep wires protected. Other uses include keeping dirt and debris away from splices and inline components. This wire heat shrink tubing can also be used as a light duty harness for wire or cable if plastic cable ties are not necessary. It can also be useful when wires need to be color coded to be identified easily.
When heat is applied to the tubing, it shrinks down to about half of its original diameter. This will encase the wire or connection with an effective safeguard against foreign contamination. After heating, it has a nominal recovered wall thickness of 0.022". Coming in quantities of 250ft, there is plenty of length to cut the tubing to the size you need.
