The 4220A4003 is intended to streamline installation. There are no tools needed to mount the filter, you simply push it onto the enclosure. Sliding catches assist in attachment or removal of the cover. This also allows the filter media to be replaced from the outside, without needing tools, so the task is much easier. The seal between the base and cover has been replaced by ribbing that directs water runoff to the outside. Airflow is directed from the outside to the inside of the cabinet.
