Absolute position feedback for hydraulic movement.Contactless position sensing
What is a magnetostrictive position sensor?
A magnetostrictive position sensor measures absolute linear position by timing the travel of a torsional pulse along a waveguide. A magnet moves with the measured object without contacting the sensor rod, avoiding wear at the sensing interface.

Plan the installation
Match the output and allow for the dead zone
Analog voltage or current
Choose 0.5–4.5 VDC, 0–10 VDC, or 4–20 mA to match the controller input. The 0–10 VDC and 4–20 mA versions require a 12–30 VDC supply; check this before choosing the power source.
CANopen communication
Choose the CANopen version when the controller uses this interface. All four CANopen families list a 9–30 VDC supply. Compare the connector and cable arrangement before ordering.
Allow room beyond the measuring stroke. MAG100, MAG200, and MAG300 list a 36 mm dead zone through 1,200 mm stroke and 63 mm from 1,201 to 2,500 mm. MAG220 lists 40 mm. Confirm total length and mounting clearances before ordering.
Check the protection configuration. MAG300 is listed as IP67, with IP69K when using the M12 plug system. MAG100, MAG200, and MAG220 are listed as IP67.
Quick reference
