Common Failures & Fixes

  • ⚠️ Fitting is leaking even though it's rated waterproof
    Check thread engagement first. Metric, NPT, and PG threads are not interchangeable. A mismatched thread won't seal correctly even with sealant. Verify thread type matches your enclosure.
  • ⚠️ Nylon fitting cracked or became brittle
    Standard nylon is not UV-stable. If installed in sunlight, replace with black UV-stabilized nylon immediately. Regular nylon degrades within a single season above deck.
  • ⚠️ Brass fitting showing white/green corrosion
    Salt exposure exceeds nickel plating's protection. For saltwater contact, switch to stainless steel. No other material will prevent this in marine environments.
  • ⚠️ Navigation electronics showing interference
    Standard fittings don't block EMI/RFI. Replace with shielded EMI/RFI cable glands. This is especially critical within 3 feet of GPS antennas, VHF radios, or depth sounders.
  • ⚠️ Fitting too large for instrument panel
