Receptacle Construction and Disconnect Features
The blue fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastic polyamide body resists impact, ultraviolet exposure, and corrosion. The DS60 design combines a quick-break disconnect mechanism with an enclosed arc chamber to manage switching at the receptacle. A safety shutter covers the contacts before the mating inlet is withdrawn.
Key Features
- A safety shutter closes over the contacts before the mating inlet is removed and opens when a compatible inlet is inserted.
- Spring-loaded contacts maintain contact pressure while accommodating variations and wear.
- The push-button quick-break mechanism opens the circuit and releases the mating connection.
- An enclosed arc chamber keeps the contacts and switching arc within the receptacle enclosure.
- Spring-assisted terminals apply pressure to the screw and conductor for a secure termination.
Applications
Use this female receptacle for heavy-duty industrial power connections and equipment requiring branch circuit or motor circuit disconnect switching. Match the 208V AC rating and 2 poles plus ground arrangement to the circuit. The horsepower rating is 5 hp; select the motor connection accordingly.
Compatibility and Installation Notes
Use the corresponding DS60 male inlet with matching voltage, current, and contact configuration. Check the conductor size, terminal connections, component dimensions, and installation arrangement before assembly. Follow the Meltric DS Series User Manual for wiring, assembly, mating, and operation.
Ratings and Environmental Protection
The operating temperature range is -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C), with an IK09 impact rating. Environmental ratings are Type 4X and IP66 / IP67. The 100 kA short-circuit rating is a close-and-withstand rating. The component carries UL and CSA listings.
