Use field wireable connectors when you need a custom cable length, a specific wire type, or are building one-off machine configurations. Wire them in the field with solder cup or crimp pin termination.

⚠️ Troubleshooting: Common M23 Connector Problems
Use this section when something isn't working. These are the five most common field failures and how to fix them fast.
Intermittent signal loss or random faults
Check for under-crimped or cold-solder joints at every pin. Use an extraction tool to pull suspect pins, inspect under magnification, and re-terminate. Also check that the mating thread is fully engaged. Even a half-turn of looseness causes intermittent contact.
Connector body won't lock / keeps loosening
Verify the correct coupling ring engagement. If vibration is the cause, apply thread-locking fluid rated for connectors (do NOT use permanent grades). For field wireable types, confirm the assembly tool was used during tightening. Overtorque by hand can strip the coupling thread.
Cable jacket cracking or stiffness in cold environments
PUR cables handle flex better than PVC down to approximately -40 °C, but sustained exposure below the rated temperature causes stiffening. If the application runs below -25 °C, check the specific cable's cold-flex rating. Consider a drag-chain compatible grade if the cable travels on a moving axis.
Grommet leaking / IP rating not maintained (12-pin)
Confirm the grommet layer selection matches the cable OD. Cable OD ≤ 8 mm needs both grommet layers; OD > 8 mm needs only the outer. A mismatched grommet leaves an air gap that defeats the IP seal. Replace grommet if deformed and do not over-torque to compensate.
Damaged or bent pins during mating
Most pin damage happens during blind-mating. Always align the connector key before engaging. M23 connectors have a keyway that prevents incorrect mating but requires correct rotational alignment first. If pins are bent, use the extraction tool, replace only the damaged pins (don't replace the full connector), and re-crimp.
