ILME Multipole Connector Kits Have Everything You Need
ILME Multipole Connector Kits: Complete Selection & Installation Guide
⚡ ILME Multipole Connector Kits Have Everything You Need
Stop hunting for compatible parts. One kit = 4 matched components, zero compatibility guesswork, faster installs.
⚠️ Why Mismatched Connectors Cause Failures
- Using incompatible inserts and housings can cause industrial connector failures in the field
- Wrong thread size = cable strain, seal failure, and unplanned downtime
- ILME kits eliminate this risk: every component is pre-matched and verified compatible
- Available in six different pin configurations from 3 to 24 poles, and five housing sizes from 21.21 to 104.27
1 What's Inside Every ILME Kit
Each kit ships with
4 matched components, with no substitutions needed:
🔌 Component 1
Male Insert
🔌 Component 2
Female Insert
🏗️ Component 3
Bulkhead Mount Base
🪖 Component 4
Metric Thread Hood
✅ Why This Matters
- All inserts are thermoplastic with silver or gold plated contacts for reliable conductivity
- Hoods use metric threads (M20–M40), which is the global industrial standard
- Bases are all bulkhead mount style, ready for panel installation
- All components are sourced and tested together so no compatibility research is needed

🔴 Sizing Rules to Know
- 3 & 4-pole kits (size 21.21) use plastic housings & are not rated for the same environments as metal
- If your cable OD requires M40, you must use a 16-pole or 24-pole kit as smaller kits don't support M40
- Housing sizes are NOT interchangeable: a 44.27 insert does NOT fit a 57.27 base
3 Configuration Options: Termination, Entry & Lever Type
ILME kits come in three variable options so you can choose what fits your wiring method and panel layout:
⚡ Termination Type
- Screw termination: traditional, field-repairable, widely used
- Spring termination: tool-free, vibration-resistant, faster wiring
🔩 Base Lever Style
- Single lever: one-hand connect/disconnect
- Double lever: higher mating force, more secure lock
📐 Cable Entry Direction
- Top entry: cable exits vertically, suits overhead routing
- Side entry: cable exits horizontally, suits wall-mounted panels
💰 Contact Plating
- Silver plating: standard applications, cost-effective
- Gold plating: low-voltage signal circuits, corrosion-sensitive environments
4 Kit vs. Individual Components: Which Do You Need?
- Use a kit if you need all 4 components (male insert, female insert, base, hood) and your application fits standard configurations. Fastest path, zero compatibility risk.
- Buy individual parts if you need non-standard sizes, specialized materials, or are replacing only one failed component in an existing installation.
- Mix and match every component in ILME kits is also sold separately. Kits simply bundle the most common combinations.
- Contact us for custom builds. If you need unusual pin counts, special environmental ratings, or non-metric threads, we'll identify the exact compatible parts for your application.
✅ Pro Tip: Gold vs. Silver Contacts
- Use gold-plated contacts for signal circuits under 1A or humid/corrosive environments
- Use silver-plated contacts for standard power circuits, more cost-effective at higher currents
- Never mix gold and silver contacts in the same connector, contact resistance mismatch can cause heat buildup
📋 Quick Reference: ILME Kit Selection Rules
- Need 3 or 4 circuits? → Size 21.21 kit, M20 hood, plastic housing
- Need 6 circuits? → Size 44.27 kit, choose M20/M25/M32 hood
- Need 10 circuits? → Size 57.27 kit, choose M20/M25/M32 hood
- Need 16 circuits? → Size 77.27 kit, choose M25/M32/M40 hood
- Need 24 circuits? → Size 104.27 kit, choose M25/M32/M40 hood
- Vibration environment? → Choose spring termination
- Signal/low voltage? → Specify gold-plated contacts
- Overhead cable routing? → Specify top cable entry
- Panel-mount horizontal routing? → Specify side cable entry

🚨 Troubleshooting: Common ILME Connector Problems
❌ Problem: Hood won't thread onto cable gland
Cause: Thread mismatch. Wrong metric size specified, or mixing metric with non-metric hardware.
Fix: Verify your cable gland thread size against the hood spec. ILME hoods are metric only (M20/M25/M32/M40). Replace the cable gland if it's imperial/PG thread.
❌ Problem: Insert doesn't seat in the base
Cause: Housing size mismatch. A 44.27 insert will not fit a 57.27 base. They look similar but are not interchangeable.
Fix: Cross-reference housing size number stamped on the component. Both insert and base must share the same housing size designation.
❌ Problem: Lever won't lock after mating
Cause: Insert not fully seated, debris on mating faces, or bent contact pins.
Fix: Disconnect, inspect all contacts for damage or contamination, clean with contact cleaner, re-seat insert fully before engaging lever.
❌ Problem: Overheating at connection point
Cause: Exceeding rated current per pin, loose termination screws, or mixed gold/silver contacts.
Fix: Verify current load per circuit doesn't exceed pin rating. Re-torque screw terminations. Ensure all contacts in the insert are the same plating type.
❌ Problem: Need a replacement part, full kit not needed
Fix: All kit components are available individually. Order only the ILME insert, base, or hood you need. Use the kit's housing size and pole count to match the exact replacement part.
