The Red Lion N-Tron
® Series SER-485-IC is an Industrial Isolated Converter. Designed for industrial use, it is certified for operating in Class 1 Division 2 environments. The SER-485-IC converts unbalanced, full, or half duplex RS-232 signals to balanced RS-422/485 signals at data rates up to 115.2kbps. The SER-485-IC features optical isolation of signals as well as surge suppression on the RS-422/485 lines. Software control of handshake signals in RS-485 mode is not needed because of the Automatic Send Data Control circuitry feature. Wiring on the SER-485-IC is easier due to the removable terminal blocks and RS-422/485 signals. The 10-48V DC voltage supply is isolated from data and signal ground lines. The easy configuration on the SER-485-IC is possible due to a 12 position DIP switch located on the bottom of the converter. UL approved.
