The Red Lion N-Tron
® Series SER-485-FXC is an Industrial Serial to Multimode Fiber Converter. Designed for industrial use, it is certified for operating in Class 1 Division 2 environments. The SER-485-FXC is able to operate in multi-drop mode and features point-to-point connectivity. Because of this one serial device can communicate with up to 31 others in a fiber ring. The SER-485-FXC supports mixed standards so other isolators and converters can be replaced. EMI/RFI protection can be added as well. Transmit and receive data is supported by the SER-485-FXC in RS-232 mode while handshaking signals do not pass through. The RS-422/485 chip is controlled by an Automatic Send Control Data circuit. Due to this feature, external software is not needed. The SER-485-FXC also has easy installation and configuration. The 12 position DIP switch configures RS-422/485 factors. The fiber uses ST style connectors and removable terminal blocks are used to connect serial data and power cables. UL approved.
